Lootera Movie Review - Hit or Flop

Lootera Review
Lootera

After a big hit film “Udaan” Vikramaditya Motwane toady released his second film “Lootera”. The movie is based on the century old short film “The Last Leaf”. Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha are in the lead roles in the movie. On the first day Motwane’s Lootera get a good response from the audience.

Lootera Movie Review:

The film is set in the 1950s. The film narrates the story of Varun Shrivastav (Ranveer Singh) and Pakhi (Sonakshi Sinha). Ranveer Singh played the role of Varun who is a thief and Sonakshi Sinha as a beautiful village girl.

To make this film two different type of people shake hands. Ekta Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap along with vikas Behl join hands for the film.

Expectations from this film are high because many big names of bollywood industry are associated with this movie. But will it be a big success? Will people like it?

As the movie is based on the American writer O Henry’s short story “The Last Leaf”, but this movie is not fully based on that story. It is different. In the first part of the film, there is not any conscious attempt to hide the any details of the story. Here, in the first part there are not too many dialogues but the expressions and acting of the actors overcome this defect. The filmmakers made a lot of efforts to manage 1950s vintage Chevrolet cars and heritage haveli and fading royalty.

In the starting of the second half, there seems slightly disconnection in the story. Also with old Chor – Police case, the love story of Lootera movie seems to be disappearing.

Lootera uses silence and stillness wonderfully well. One can easily listen the sound of footsteps in the hilly pathway, the sound of crumbling of paper. This thing is very rare in the bollywood movies.

Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha
Lootera
The two parts of Lootera movie are different chapters. Story started from the green landscapes of Bengal and reached to snowy hills of Shimla. The work done by cinematographer Mahendra J Shetty is excellent.

The music and lyrics of the songs are very relevant and in the perfect consonance with the universe that Lootera conjures up. The supporting cast is very good and helps to adjust the story in the single direction.

The director Vikramaditya Motwane took a big risk to cast these stars in his film because both stars did hit films but their roles in their films were totally different. Sonakshi Sinha did big hit films like son of Sardaar, Dabangg and Rowdy Rathore which all are masala movies. Whereas Ranveer Singh known for his brash, dilli – da – launda roles in “Band Baja Baarat” and in “Ladies vs Ricky Bahl”.

Both are totally different, so no one ever thought this combination in such time of film which is serious, romantic film of 1950s era.

After viewing this film no one can say that these are those actors who did just some handful films in bollywood.

Now the big question is that “Will the film Lootera work on the boxoffice?” The question is irrelevant. Even if it fails to score like Dabangg, Rowdy Rathore, it is an excellent film. It is a magnificent film. Will it be hit or flop film? After the response from the first day of Lootera movie, it is expected that it will be a hit film.
